The Prescott Valley Police Department has partnered with MATFORCE by supporting their "Dump The Drugs" program aimed at providing the community with a way to properly dispose of any unused or unwanted prescription drugs that they have in their homes. The goal is to keep these prescription drugs out of the hands of others and to ensure that they are disposed of in the proper way.
Citizens wishing to drop off unused prescription medications for disposal can do so by coming to our Police Department at 7601 E Civic Circle and contacting staff at the customer service window Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Prescott Valley Police Department recently received a free drug drop box to facilitate the collection of unwanted prescription drugs, and to make it easier for the community to drop their drugs off at the Police Department. When you arrive during the designated hours, you will receive a key from the customer service window that will allow you access to the drop box.
When you get the key, we ask that you leave something with the staff so that we can ensure that the key is returned. You can leave car keys, and ID, credit card, etc., so that when you are done with your drug drop off you will remember to return the key. We do not gather information from these items nor are we tracking any of the prescription drug drops, it is merely a way for us to ensure the key is returned and not accidentally taken with you when you leave.
Remove Pills from Bottles
Once you receive the key, you will be provided with instructions on how to complete your drug drop off along with zip lock bags to put the drugs in. We ask that you remove the pills from the prescription bottles due to the sensitive information contained on them. It is a very simple procedure designed to make the process as easy as possible for the citizens. Just follow the instructions, put the pills in the bags, drop the drugs in the drawer, and return the key to our window staff. It is that easy.
We hope that you will take advantage of our program and help keep Prescott Valley a safer community in which we all can thrive.
